Product details

Lycopene 10™ provides high levels of the powerful, antioxidant carotenoid lycopene in its natural form. Lycopene is a colorful pigmented antioxidant, which is principally found in red and orange fruits and vegetables, such as tomatoes, watermelon, papaya and grapefruit.

It is an extremely powerful, fat-soluble antioxidant that protects a wide variety of lipid-based tissues and organs from free radical damage. Lycopene is of particular importance to women because it is highly concentrated in breast tissue, where it helps to protect these delicate tissues from oxidative damage.

It's equally important to men because it is the most abundant protective antioxidant present in the prostate gland, where it helps to protect the prostate from oxidative free radicals and support normal prostate function.

As the major carotenoid found in tomatoes, lycopene is one of the primary nutrients associated with the healthy Mediterranean diet and in helping to protect the cardiovascular system. Lycopene cannot be produced by the body, so its benefits are only delivered by food or supplements. Sadly, most Americans acquire relatively little lycopene because of our low consumption of fruits and vegetables.

Lycopene 10 provides many times more lycopene than is found in the leading multivitamins, to deliver powerful antioxidant protection to support the health of a broad range of body tissues.

Key benefits

A Powerful Fat-Soluble Antioxidant

Lycopene is the bright red pigment found in tomatoes, watermelon, pink grapefruit and papaya, and it’s one of the most effective carotenoid antioxidants. Because it’s fat-soluble, it works within the fatty parts of the body, including cell membranes, helping support the body’s natural defenses against free radicals. Each softgel capsule provides 10 mg of lycopene.

Antioxidant Support for Men’s Prostate Health

Lycopene naturally concentrates in the prostate gland, where it works as an antioxidant within cell membranes, helping support prostate cells’ natural defenses against oxidative stress and supporting normal prostate function.

Suggested use

Consume one softgel capsule daily — preferably with food containing a small amount of fat. You can increase your intake as required or as guided by your physician.

Frequently asked questions

What is Lycopene?

Lycopene is a carotenoid, part of the same family of natural pigments as beta-carotene, lutein and astaxanthin. It’s what gives tomatoes, watermelon, and pink grapefruit their red color. Unlike beta-carotene, the body doesn’t convert lycopene into vitamin A, so it works purely as an antioxidant.

Is Lycopene better absorbed from cooked tomatoes?

Yes. Cooking breaks down a tomato’s cell walls, releasing lycopene, and because lycopene is fat-soluble, it’s absorbed best with a little fat. That’s why tomato sauce cooked with olive oil, a Mediterranean staple, is such a good source. For the same reason, we suggest taking Lycopene 10™ with a meal that contains some fat.
