Product details

Vitamin K2 MK-7 240 provides the most beneficial form of vitamin K in the form of Vitamin K2 Menaquinone-7 (K2 MK-7). Vitamin K2 MK-7 is now recognized as essential for bone and heart health through its role in regulating calcium metabolism. Unlike typical vitamin K1 and its role in blood clotting, Vitamin K2 MK-7 is unique given its essential role in calcium utilization and thus bone, heart and circulatory health.

Essentially, K2 MK-7 promotes the retention of calcium in healthy bone while inhibiting undesirable calcification in tissues such as arteries, heart valves, etc. By reducing calcification, K2 MK-7 promotes flexible, resilient arteries and heart valves – a defining characteristic of cardiovascular health.

In short, K2 MK-7 helps our body retain calcium where required (our bones) and reduce deposits where calcification is to be avoided. Unfortunately, there is no meaningful source of K2 MK-7 in the American diet, so achieving these desirable heart and bone health benefits requires supplementation of this essential vitamin.

Key benefits

Supports Healthy Bones

Bone is living tissue that the body rebuilds all the time. Bone-building cells make a protein called osteocalcin, which binds calcium into the bone matrix, but osteocalcin can only bind calcium after vitamin K activates it. Each softgel supplies Vitamin K2 as Menaquinone-7 (MK-7), a long-lasting form that stays active in the body for days, to support healthy bone mineralization and help maintain strong bones.

Supports Heart and Circulatory Health

Your blood vessel walls make a protein that helps manage calcium in your arteries and other soft tissues. Like the protein your bones use to bind calcium, it needs vitamin K to switch it on. Vitamin K2 helps activate this protein, supporting healthy, flexible blood vessels and overall heart health.

Supports Healthy Calcium Use Throughout the Body

Your body uses two different proteins to handle calcium: one helps lock calcium into your bones, and the other helps manage calcium in your blood vessel walls. Both need vitamin K to work, so vitamin K2 supports healthy calcium use throughout your body.

Frequently asked questions

What is Vitamin K2?

Vitamin K2 is one of the two main forms of vitamin K. Vitamin K1 (Phylloquinone) comes mostly from leafy green vegetables, and the liver uses it mainly for normal blood clotting. Vitamin K2 is a group of related compounds called menaquinones, found mainly in fermented foods like natto and certain cheeses, and it plays a key role in activating the proteins that manage calcium in bone and soft tissue.

What does "MK-7" mean?

Menaquinones are named for the length of their side chain, and MK-7 has a chain of seven repeating units. That longer chain lets MK-7 stay in circulation far longer than K1 or MK-4, so a single daily serving maintains steadier levels in the body.

Can't I get Vitamin K2 from food?

Some. Natto, a traditional Japanese fermented soybean food, is by far the richest source of MK-7, but its strong flavor and sticky texture make it an acquired taste, and it’s rarely eaten outside Japan. Certain aged cheeses and other fermented and animal foods provide smaller amounts of K2, mostly in other forms. Leafy greens supply mostly vitamin K1, not K2. A daily supplement offers a simple, consistent source of MK-7.
